Travel can be stressful. Vacations can be traumatic when you have failed to sufficiently plan. To get the most from your travel, read the suggestions ahead.
Aisle Seat
Go for the aisle seat. Aside from the view, window seats don’t have many benefits. An aisle seat gives you better access to the baggage storage, bathrooms, airline staff, as well as prevent you from being squeezed on both sides.
Get educated about foreign food ingredients to prevent unintentional exposure to allergens. If you suffer from severe food allergies, make sure you are able to speak those food related terms in the native language of your travel destination. This will give you the ability to alert your waiter or waitress of the foods that you have an allergy to so that they can be kept out of your meals.
Do not hope that an airline will make you as comfortable as necessary on a flight. A flight is often more comfortable when you bring along comfort items; such as a blanket, a pillow or your own set of headphones. It is also wise to bring some snacks, so you will have food that you enjoy eating if you are hungry.
Have a door stopper to use during your hotel stay. Sometimes, especially when traveling in less developed countries, it is desirable to have a little bit more security in your hotel room at night. If you do not have a door that is equipped with a chain or deadbolt, use a wedge doorstop before retiring at night.
Prior to booking a hotel, ask if renovations will be taking place during that time. The last thing you want is to have your peaceful trip interrupted by construction noise. Since hotel staff are powerless to help with the noise, avoiding these dates is the only way to solve it.
You may end up at a hotel that is far inferior to the Ritz. If you dislike the area you are stuck with, bring a rubber doorstop. In addition to locking and chaining your door, you can wedge the doorstop under the door for an extra measure of safety. Burglars will be able to break the door’s lock, but entry will be extremely hard if you have such a doorstop engaged.
Use environmentally responsible services to ensure your vacation is eco-friendly. There are many hotels which have implemented a linen reuse program, use energy efficient lighting, place recycling bins for guest use, use low flow plumbing and use alternative energy sources. Even restaurants and transportation can be green.
While travel should be relaxing and fun, it can be stressful if you are not aware of tricks that will make things easier. With this information available to you, your next trip should be more fun and simple.
