Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, the Mexican Government Secretary of Tourism, presided over the official ribbon cutting ceremony. He was accompanied by Carlos Joaquín González, Governor of the State of Quintana Roo; Carlos Hank Rhon, President and CEO of Grupo Hermes; and Graciela Hank González, President of Hermes Turismo, which owns the property. Also in attendance were Alex Zozaya, CEO of Apple Leisure Group; Gonzalo del Peón, President of AMResorts; Marisol Vanegas Pérez, Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo; and Juan Luis Carrillo, Municipal President of Isla Mujeres. Local hospitality business owners, media and guests also attended the event.
The festivities included remarks from Carlos Hank Rhon, President of Board of Directors – Grupo Hermes; Juan Luis Carrillo, Mayor of Isla Mujeres; Graciela Hank González, Tourism President – Grupo Hermes; Carlos Joaquín González, Governor of Quintana Roo; Enrique de la Madrid, Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism and AMResorts executives, as well as an unveiling of a commemorative plaque during the ribbon cutting ceremony and a toast.
